Gerloff Breaks Through To Win MotoAmerica Supersport Race 2 At Road Atlanta As Yamaha R6 Riders Once Again Go 1-2-3

Braselton, GA – April 19, 2015 – The same three Yamaha YZF-R6 riders who swept the podium in Saturday’s MotoAmerica Supersport Race 1 at Road Atlanta repeated the feat in Sunday’s Race 2, but the order of finish changed as an overjoyed Garrett Gerloff got the win aboard his #31 Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha R6. Saturday’s race winner, Wheels In Motion/MotoSport.com/Meen Yamaha’s Josh Herrin finished second and Garrett’s teammate JD Beach finished third.

Garrett started from the pole in the rain-shortened race, but RoadRace Factory/Yamaha rider Tomas Puerta got the holeshot. Undaunted, Garrett went about his business of running fast laps, soon passed Puerta to take over the lead, and he stayed there unchallenged all the way to the checkers.

Garrett was glad to get the win and said, “I didn’t know what to do on the cool-down lap because it’s been a while since I’ve won a race! I’m really happy to finally get my first win in this class. This is going to be an exciting championship all year long, and I can’t wait till the next race at ViR (Virginia International Raceway.”

After finishing third, JD commented, “The track was wet and slick, but it wasn’t too bad for me. I’m glad we had that little delay because it helped us quite a bit. Congratulations to my teammate Garrett. He rode a great race.”

With three races completed in the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, Garrett currently leads the championship, and JD is second in the points standings.

After two MotoAmerica rounds in as many weeks, the Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha riders and crew will take a short break. They’ll be back in action for round three of the MotoAmerica series, which will take place at Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA, on May 15 through 17.

MORE TOP FIVES FOR ANTHONY IN ATLANTA

Just one week removed from their podium debut as a pairing, David Anthony and M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki continued to pile up the top-five results as the newMotoAmerica series travelled to Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Georgia, for Round 2.

Last weekend’s inclement weather followed the tour east as well, as the event was hit by rainfall on all three days. However, as was the case at the Circuit of the Americas inAustin, Texas, Anthony showed the form to run up front in the Supersport class aboard his M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki GSX-R600 in the wet and in the dry.

In Saturday’s contest, Anthony powered home to a narrow fourth-place finish and came back in the rain on Sunday to rack up fifth.

“Yesterday, I let the leaders get away and then rode around in fourth,” Anthony explained. “I was doing the same lap times as the leaders but I just couldn’t bridge the gap. Today inthe rain — I’ve been quick in the wet all weekend, so I’m a bit disappointed to come away in fifth. I played it a bit too safe I guess. I should have pushed a bit more, but at least Ibrought it home in one piece.

“The year is going well. We’ve got a third, a fourth, and a fifth. We’re at the pointy end, we’ve got to keep it up and stay consistent.”

Anthony now sits fourth in the Supersport standings with 40 points to his credit.

M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki will next travel to Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, on May 15-17th for Round 3 of the 2015 MotoAmerica season.
