MotoAmerica Superstock 600 racer Caroline Olsen crashed during a warm-up session Sunday morning, September 10 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. According to witnesses, Olsen appeared to have trouble slowing for Turn One, veered to rider’s left to avoid running into the back of another rider, and crashed in the run-off area at high speed.

Olsen, who is from Norway, was airlifted from the track and transported to a hospital in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Retired former World Champion Jason Pridmore, a close friend of Olsen, was excused from his duties as a color commentator for beIN SPORTS and left the racetrack to go be with Olsen. This morning, Pridmore issued the following update on Olsen via social media from the hospital:

“[I] wanted to give everyone an update on @carolineracing. She was flown to Atlantic City regional medical center yesterday after an accident in turn 1 at NJMP. She is alert & in good spirits. She suffered severe bruising on her lungs, a broken collarbone & a concussion. She had a good night last night & hopefully could be out of hospital in next couple days. They want to monitor her lungs. She is aware of the outpouring of support from the @motoamerica paddock as well as family, friends & fans. Ok keep you updated as more info comes to us. Thank you to fire & ambulance staff, Dr. Rossi, all @motoamerica personal & those that were willing to drop everything to help. #getwellcaro #toughviking”

During Olsen’s crash, she and her motorcycle struck a free-standing tire barrier, displacing the barrier, which then struck cornerworker Angel Cardona. Cardona was transported to a local hospital via an ambulance on the ground with non-life-threatening injuries, according to MotoAmerica Communications Director Paul Carruthers.
