MotoWest GP releases 2015 class structure, competition categories and new Saturday Series!

With the 2014 double points season finale still a few weeks away, MWGP is already looking to 2015 and finalizing its class structure. Formula 1 will remain MWGP’s premier class, and will continue as a 12 lap main event open to racers holding an Advanced license. MWGP’s Formula 1 sees AMA regulars grid up against the top club racers. It has been a great platform for racers to emulate the longer races at the professional level. Also continuing are the FX Endurance races held on Saturday afternoon, these races test a riders endurance, tire, and fuel management beyond that of a traditional sprint race.

To highlight MWGP’s three tier license system, ground breaking GT Expert classes will join the schedule. These displacement based classes are open to racers holding an Expert license only. “This class was created from the feedback of our racer surveys and focus groups, by streamlining and trimming our class structure and broadening the variety of bikes eligible for each class we are creating larger grids, more competition, as well as a true novice, expert, and advanced class structure. The GT Expert class is designed for the club racer to sharpen their skills after the move from novice or the weekend warrior to compete amongst riders of similar skill on evenly matched machinery. We are also excited to announce our Saturday Series! The GT Expert classes will run on Saturday afternoon featuring a distinct championship from our Sunday class schedule. We have seen great success with Saturday afternoon novice racing, and are opening the opportunity to our Expert racers without creating the requirement to attend both days,” said MWGP Operations Manager Niccole Cox.

MWGP will continue its full Novice Championship. Also continuing for 2015 is the popular Ducati Cup Formula class, and unique Formula Electric. Run What You Brung, a class designed to give trackday riders a taste of racing will remain on the Saturday schedule. MWGP has also released a tentative race day schedule to highlight the new class structure in operation. MWGP Owner/CEO Greg Nulman stated, “I want to thanks all the racers, sponsors, and industry partners that gave input into this class structure. I am moved by the passion and dedication of the MWGP racers and staff to make 2015 even more successful. We are working hard to finalize the 2015 schedule, and I am in talks with new and continuing sponsors to provide more support to the club and our racers. I hope everyone will watch our website and Facebook page for many exciting announcements to come!”
