Moly confirms TT entry The greatest sidecar driver ever to have graced the Mountain Course is back for more in 2006 with the news that Dave Molyneux has officially entered this year’s Isle of Man TT Races. The Manxman, who already has a record 11 victories beside his name, lines up for the first time in the official HM Plant Honda colours and it would take a brave man to bet against him adding another brace to his collection this time around. In a surprise move, the 40 year old parted company with passenger Dan Sayle over the winter months but was almost immediately reunited with former partner Craig Hallam and having already taken two wins together, it’s a formidable partnership that will line up on Glencrutchery Road in June. ‘Moly’ has also been working hard since last June on his outfit and with his innovative engineering prowess sure to come to the fore, his already scintillating lap record may come under threat. The duo have recently been to the BAR Honda F1 team’s wind tunnel at Brackley to fine tune the aerodynamics, the first time ever a F2 Sidecar has used such a facility. Having confirmed his entry for the TT, Molyneux commented: “Everyone knows how much I love the TT and although I may have been vocal in the past, it’s only because I care so much about the event. As a Manxman, the TT means everything to me so it’s been very pleasing to see the changes that have been taking place over the last 18 months. Things are moving forward in the right manner and I’m fully committed to the two races this year. It will be another competitive year for the class, with a first class entry, but I’m confident that with Craig back in the chair, I can add another pair of wins to my collection.” David Cretney, MHK for Tourism and Leisure added: “Not only is Dave the most successful sidecar driver ever at the TT, he’s also one of the greatest sportsman the Isle of Man has ever produced and I’m delighted he’s going to be back in 2006. What he can do with a F2 Sidecar defies belief and witnessing him in action around the Mountain Course is a sight to behold so it’s great news for all concerned that he’ll be on the grid again in June. With HM Plant adding their support to his effort, it’s also clear that Honda are committed to the Sidecars and further vindicates our support and commitment to the class.”
