NEW GRASS ROOTS SUSPENSION SUPPORT FOR CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLE RACE EVENTS AND TRACK DAYS Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning is a full time fully mobile suspension support business for racers and track day riders that travels between California Speedway, Willow Springs, Button Willow, Laguna Seca, Infineon Raceway and Thunderhill in California. Support is provided to all event attendees including instructors, during 2005. Current examples of clients include Keigwin’s at the Track, Sportbike Track Time, Take it 2 the Track, The Track Club, Track Daz, Dial it in Tracktime and Ride Red Shift. Testimonials can be found at www.feelthetrack.com. Dave Moss, Founder states: “This is a unique business in that CRST travels from track to track and race to race on a weekly basis with a focus on bike set up; geometry, SAG and hydraulics, in order to custom tune the rider’s bike to that specific track and to the individual’s riding style. I can take the many years of racing knowledge from tracks that I have competed on with AMA and AFM and make appropriate changes and recommendations for upgrades to every motorcycle that needs tuning.” “This company’s mission is to ensure that every rider gets the most out of their bike at all times, and therefore enjoy as much track time as possible each day. When they begin exceeding the capabilities of the OEM components, then and only then do we recommend upgrading the OEM components as necessary and if that requires downtime, work is done in the evenings at the track or between track days” There are multiple free downloads available from CRST on the web site. “Anyone can download free track day or race day sheets from www.feelthetrack.com. The purpose of these sheets is to allow all riders to maintain accurate records of settings for every track they go to, thereby ensuring that when they leave for the track the bike is already set up at the last know “best” setting and the rider simply needs to check cold tire pressure. The knock on effect is that riders become much more familiar with their motorcycle and begin to comprehend the changes being made, and can then relate information about the bike during a track day with greater understanding and clarity.” For those wanting to get a basic understanding of set up, several articles have been reproduced with kind permission of Friction Zone magazine and can be downloaded and used to gain a basic understanding of SAG, hydraulics and geometry, with one section specifically relating to tires. “All brands do not have the same overall diameter in set tire sizes, so there are considerable changes made to geometry by changing sizes and/or brands” states Dave, “and most people are not very aware of that at all.” CRST carries a common selection of fork seals for those nightmare blown seal emergencies and a selection of fork springs in order to keep the bike’s SAG correctly set up and replace inappropriate OEM springs. Dave also holds seminars at motorcycle dealerships with sales staff and shop mechanics teaching how to correctly set up new bikes post sale and options for upgrading suspension components, and also provides evening or day events for dealerships or private rider groups to ensure that everyone gets a hands on experience with their motorcycle. For a full 2005 calendar of events Dave will be attending, go to www.feelthetrack.com and look at the schedule page. If you want to have CRST at your track day event as a value added service to your clients or book a seminar date please email [email protected] with the appropriate dates for confirmation!
