WERA Kicks Off Variety of Motorcycle Events Five events in six weeks for two-wheeled enthusiasts TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (July 25, 2013) — For two-wheeled enthusiasts, the next six weeks at Miller Motorsports Park will be action-packed with five different motorcycle racing events on the schedule. The excitement kicks off this weekend, July 27-28, as WERA Motorcycle Roadracing makes their seventh annual visit to the state-of-the-art racing complex located just west of Salt Lake City in Tooele, Utah. WERA is the largest non-professional motorcycle racing club in America and will attract more than 200 of the country’s most promising up-and-coming riders to Miller Motorsports Park this weekend. The event will feature two full days of racing for the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series and the Pirelli/WERA West Sportsman Series presented by Lucas Oil. The event also serves as Round 4 of the 2013 Utah SportBike Association’s (UtahSBA) Masters of the Mountains Series. Also on the schedule this weekend will be Rounds 4 and 5 of the Utah Kart Championship at the Miller Kart Center on Saturday and Sunday, and a drifting event presented by Drift Utah and Innovative Garage on Saturday. The following weekend, August 3-4, GEICO Motocycle AMA Pro Road Racing returns to Miller Motorsports Park. The event will feature the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike, AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike, AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport and the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series. The AMA racers will also have a full doubleheader weekend, with two races for the National Guard SuperBike, GoPro Daytona SportBike and Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport series. The AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series will have one race. Two weeks later, on August 17, Miller Motorsports Park will host the inaugural Built Ford Tough Utah National, Round 11 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. With the recent news that the AMA Supercross series will not be returning to Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City next year, this will be the only chance to see the world’s premier motocross riders, including Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey and James Stewart, as they compete on Miller Motorsports Park’s brand-new motocross track. On August 24-25, the Utah SportBike Association’s Masters of the Mountains series returns for Round 5 of their six-round 2013 championship, attracting the best motorcycle road racers from throughout the Intermountain West as the points battles tighten up with the end of the season in sight. On Labor Day Weekend, August 31 – September 1, the vintage and historic motorcycles of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association will return for the seventh annual Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix. This is always a very popular event, with the laid-back atmosphere of the vintage and historic racers joined by the always-entertaining two-person sidecars. Tickets for this weekend’s WERA event are priced at $6 per day for adults. Kids aged 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
