MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE EXPANDS SCHEDULE TO FEATURE TWO NEW EVENTS IN 2006 DUBLIN, Ohio (November 21, 2005) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today announced its seven-race 2006 schedule, which features two new events and more of the world-class racing action fans have come to expect from America’s most competitive road course. New to the Mid-Ohio schedule will be the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Championships (Sept. 15-17) and the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Superbike Shootout (Sept. 29 – Oct. 1). The inaugural NASA Championships will feature amateur road racing, time trials, autocross, drifting and rallying competitions in multiple classes. The Superbike Shootout will be the season finale of the AMA Superbike Championship, and will include a unique rider and points format. The event also will crown champions in the AMA’s Supersport, Superstock and Formula Xtreme classes. Among the traditional events in the track’s 2006 lineup will be the American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio (May 19-21), the EMCO Gears Classic, featuring the Rolex Sports Car Series, and the Unlimited Audio Accessories Triple Crown Tuner Challenge (June 23-25), and the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire (Aug. 4-6), one of the most popular stops on the AMA Superbike tour. Also on the schedule will be two longstanding events for vintage racing enthusiasts. AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days (July 28-30) will feature a host of classic motorcycling events and competitions, while the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio (Aug. 18-20) will bring 50 years of auto racing history to the track, including the annual Concours d’Elegance and British Car Showdown. “Every year our goal is to bring together the best collection of motorsports events possible for our spectators, our sponsors and our business,” said Michelle Trueman Gajoch, president of TrueSports, Inc., owner and operator of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “We feel we’ve done that for 2006 with the return of the American Le Mans Series, Grand American and the AMA Superbikes, as well as the addition of two new events and the continued growth of our other races. We’re looking forward to another exciting season.” The modern sports car marvels of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) will be the featured attraction during the American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio. The Mid-Ohio round once again will be the series’ last race before its teams head to France for the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Grand American Road Racing Association’s Rolex Sports Car Series will run a Saturday evening endurance race for its Daytona Prototype and GT machines on June 24 during the EMCO Gears Classic. The three-day event also will feature a Grand-Am Cup race for compact sports cars and the Unlimited Audio Accessories Triple Crown Tuner Challenge, which includes an import tuner car show. The two wheelers get a temporary change of traditional dates in 2006, with AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days and the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire moving to back-to-back weekends in late July and early August. Both dates likely will revert back to July in 2007. The addition of the fall AMA Superbike race gives the track three motorcycle weekends for the first time.
