METZELER in the starting blocks for the 2015 Road Racing season: introducing the line-up of riders, races and initiatives

The North West 200, Isle of Man TT (plus Post TT Races), Southern 100, Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix and Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix are the most important competitions the tire brand will be participating in

There are still a few places available at the METZELER VILLAGE ready to welcome bikers for the Isle of Man TT, providing quality camping and the opportunity to meet the Tourist Trophy heroes

Munich (Germany), 12 May 2015 – This year METZELER’s commitment to road racing activity will be strong once again, thanks to the impressive line-up of riders putting their trust in the brand of the elephant logo, helped by the good results achieved in last year’s events.

METZELER will also be the 2015 Title Sponsor for the Ulster Grand Prix, as well as confirming the popular METZELER Village initiative on the Isle of Man.

THE TEAM OF METZELER RIDERS

More than fifteen riders have chosen METZELER tires this year to race in the various road competitions on the calendar.

These include, to name a few, Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Alistair Seeley, Martin Jessop, Ian Hutchinson, Gary Johnson, Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin, James Hillier, Michael Rutter, Glenn Irwin and Ben Wilson.

For the various road racing rounds METZELER will also be collaborating in 2015 with many of the major motorcycle manufacturers including BMW, Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph, Kawasaki and MV Agusta.

Last year, thanks to the close collaboration with the riders, teams and motorcycle manufacturers, METZELER caps were on the podium twenty-three times; including eleven times on the top step.

THE 2015 ROAD RACING ROUNDS:

The first round is the North West 200, starting today in Northern Ireland and scheduled to end on 16 May. This competition, which METZELER riders dominated last year, winning in the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock 1000 categories, has by now become one of the most important sporting events in Ireland and one of the most competitive road racing events, thanks in part to the participation of the best road racing riders in the world.

Holding the Metzeler colors high in this race will be Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Alistair Seeley, Martin Jessop, Ian Hutchinson, Gary Johnson, Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin, James Hillier, Michael Rutter, Glenn Irwin and Ben Wilson.

The best known competition and the one that all road racing fans await most anxiously, is the legendary Isle of Man TT where last year METZELER riders took eight podiums. This truly global event is scheduled on the calendar this year from 30 May to 12 June.

Racing to represent Metzeler in the various categories will be Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Martin Jessop, Ian Hutchinson, Gary Johnson, Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin, James Hillier and Michael Rutter.

At the end of the Tourist Trophy, on Saturday 13 June, the Post TT Races will be held at Billown, with the participation of Dean Harrison and Ivan Lintin.

Then it will be time for the Southern 100. Last year the METZELER riders won all seven of the major categories, dominating on this spectacular 4.25 mile track, again held at Billown. This year the race runs from 6 to 9 July and participating riders will include Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Dean Harrison and Ivan Lintin.

From 3 to 8 August, also in Northern Ireland, the METZELER Ulster Grand Prix will be held, a competition where the brand is title sponsor for the third year in a row. Also known as “the fastest road race in the world” because of its 11.9 kilometer track that is raced at an average speed of 223 kph. METZELER riders on the starting grid will include multiple event winner Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson, Gary Johnson, Dean Harrison and Ivan Lintin.

The METZELER road racing season will end in autumn with another historic and exciting round for all road racing fans, the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, which will start on 19 November, an event dominated by METZELER rider Stuart Easton in 2014.
