ALPHARETTA, Ga. With the 2006 season approaching, Team Embry has announced that they have signed Keith Marshall to run under their banner in AMA Pro Racing and the WERA National Challenge Series. Marshall will concentrate on the Supersport and Formula Xtreme classes in AMA competition. Marshall is a relative newcomer to racing, starting his career in 2003. The 25-year old ran his first full season in 2004, taking the expert class by storm on his way to winning the 600 and 750 Superbike championships in the WERA National Challenge Series. For 2005, Marshall continued to run selected WERA Sportsman and WERA National Series rounds. His season included a total of 11 wins and 29 podium finishes in WERA and Suzuki Cup competition. In addition, Marshall competed in five rounds on the AMA Pro Racing circuit, running both the Supersport and Formula Xtreme classes. Marshall’s best finish in AMA competition was a 13th in Supersport at Virginia International Raceway. His consistency helped him earn a top-20 finish in every race he entered, with the exception of round one at Daytona International Raceway. “My head was spinning at that first AMA round,” recalls Marshall. “My comfort level is much better, and now I feel like I’m ready to take the next step. I’ve got a good team behind me and better bikes, and my sights are set on top-ten finishes.” Having the support of Team Embry, says Marshall, “is huge. I’ve been to plenty of races where I’ve blown an engine and only gotten to race because of friends helping me. I had my best race weekends when I’ve had the most help. With Team Embry, I’ll be able to constantly move forward because I can concentrate solely on setup and racing.” Team Embry has a tradition of helping promising amateur racers make the transition to the professional ranks. Team owner Mike Embry is looking forward to continuing that trend with Marshall. “I’ve known Keith for four years. I’ve watched him since he was a novice,” said Embry. “He’s a smart rider. Every year that he rides you can see him get faster. Not only that, but he doesn’t throw the bike down. He’s always cognizant of what the bike can do. He sees things from a championship standpoint.” The first race of 2006 for Marshall will be at Daytona International Raceway March 8-11 for the AMA Supersport and Formula Xtreme events. Marshall will be in Florida again for the first WERA National Series round at Jennings GP from March 24-26.
