Rob Christman Signs with Pirelli for the 2014 MRA Season Wrapping up the MRA overall #1 plate is no easy task in the highly competitive series. However, that’s what Rob Christman aimed to do and succeeded in the 2013 season. Looking to change his program a little, Rob tested out the Pirelli Superbike slicks at a couple of off-season testing events. One of the events was the last round of the USBA race series at Miller Motorsports Park. After some minor changes, Rob was able to place himself on pole position for the premiere race, King of the Mountain GTO. Rob would later go on to place 2nd in that race. “This is the first time that I have been at this track and the first time I had ridden the Pirellis. I am very happy with the results,” said Christman. A few weeks after the USBA round, Christman went on to test the exact same tires he got the KoM podium on at his home track of High Plains Raceway. Achieving the same lap times on the take offs in practice than he was during a race on his previous tires. “I was surprised to see my lap times were nearly identical on these used Pirellis as they were with the other new tires!” Rob commented. “It’s been great to work with Rob so far. He has a great attitude towards having a goal and getting there. All test days so far have all been under 60 degrees F ambient temps with a new rider. Most of the testing was done at a track he has never ridden. The complexity of working in cold temperatures is hard enough. Adding a new rider and a new bike where we don’t know what the setup is like makes it much more difficult. However, having the effective communication between us, Rob and his wrench, Danny Anderson, has been paramount for the quick advances we have made,” noted Oscar Solis of Sol Performance. “I don’t know if it was the tires or the support that gave me these results but I do know that riding Pirellis and having Sol Performance on my team just works. Oscar knows his stuff and was always there to help out on and off the track. I am looking forward to a great 2014 season, defending my championship and going faster,” added Rob. Rob has had a long standing racing career from helping instruct riders at the American Supercamp training programs to participating in AMA Superbike races.
