ANDY LEISNER TO JOIN MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA STAFF AS VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING

AMA Pro Racing Executive Brings Diversified Background to World-Renowned Facility

MONTEREY, Calif. (March 1, 2005) – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/General Manager Gill Campbell announced today the selection of Andrew (Andy) Leisner as Vice President of Marketing in a move that continues to enhance the already strong administrative staff at the world-renowned race track.

Leisner, who has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from UCLA, has been a vice president with AMA Pro Racing since 2002. With AMA Pro Racing, he was responsible for managing the Superbike, Motocross, Supercross, Supermoto and Flat Track Championships’ marketing, sponsorships, television and licensing.

He also assisted in corporate communications, event sanctioning and competition rule making for the nationwide organization. “We are very pleased to be able to bring on board someone of Andy Leisner’s caliber to further enhance the development of our corporate marketing program,” Campbell said. “Andy has a diverse background encompassing a wide variety of areas that will boost our efforts to continue Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s growth pattern.”

Leisner, 38, grew up in Southern California before attending UCLA. His racing involvement began as a competitor in AMA 250 Grand Prix, then a season in the 250cc World Championship Grand Prix Series in 1989. He was advertising manager with Cycle World Magazine prior to joining AMA Pro Racing in 2002.

“I’ve been coming to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca every year since 1983, as a fan, then a competitor, then a racing executive,” said Leisner, who is married and has two children. “I feel like I have grown up around the raceway. I have a real connection to the facility and I really want to see it continue to succeed. I’m looking forward to coming to the raceway to help it grow and continue to give back to the community.”

AMA Pro Racing CEO Scott Hollingsworth remarked the series’ loss was Laguna Seca’s gain. “We are sorry to lose Andy as an employee,” Hollingsworth said. “But, we are glad he is staying within the racing community and are looking forward to working with him in his new capacity at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.”

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s schedule of events this season includes the U.S. Sports Car Invitational Presented by Shell V-Power and featuring the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series April 29-May 1, the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring the return of MotoGP to the U.S. and AMA Superbike racing July 8-10, the 32nd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races Presented by Chrysler and featuring Chaparral August 19-21 and the season-ending Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 14-16.
