Lloyd Bayley of LB Sports ran the ASRA Team Challenge solo March 8 at Roebling Road Raceway on his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000, made one pit stop, finished first Overall, and nailed the victory in the GTO class. Bayley completed all 75 laps of the race under the two-hour time limit in spite of a red flag incident about halfway through the race. Bayley pitted during the red flag, refueled, and went back out without a tire change, putting him out front and claiming the first victory of the season in the first Team Challenge. Bayley gave thanks to Moto-D, Orient Express, Dunlop and Vortex for all their support. Eric Helmbach of Grease Monkey Racing also ran solo and finished second overall on his BMW S1000RR.

Only four of the 22 teams entered finished all 75 laps of the race, three of which ran the GTO class. MDM/Bubble Gum Racing’s team of Jimmy Fontinopoulos and Mike Selpe were the lone GTU team entry to finish all 75 laps, claiming third place overall, and first in GTU on their Pirelli-shod Maher Motorsports-built and Metric Devil Moto-tuned Yamaha YZF-R6. Selpe and Fontinopoulos rode this purpose-built machine to victory and plan to compete in this season’s full ASRA Team Challenge schedule.

Seth Starnes and Charlie Mavros led most of their 72 laps completed with the lead in the GT Lights class on the Team Mavors Bridgestone shod Suzuki 565, and finished 6th overall.

The next ASRA Team Challenge race is scheduled for April 11-12th, at Carolina Motorsports Park. For full results, 2015 schedule, and additional information, please visit www.ccsracing.us.
