KTM is bringing its RC 390 sportbike to America in 2015.

The RC 390 was first seen in its kitted racebike form in the ADAC Junior Cup in Germany, but now the Indian-built machine is soon to be available as a streetbike around the world.

The RC 390 has a 375cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine with a bore of 89.0mm and a stroke of 60.0mm. Compression ratio of the liquid-cooled motor is 12.5:1. It has four valves, two 36.0mm intake valves and two 29.0 exhaust valves, actuated by double overhead camshafts and aluminum finger followers, like on KTM’s RC8 R Superbike. The engine is fed by a 46mm Dell’Orto throttle body, which is controlled by a Bosch engine management system. The motor has a counterbalance, a cable-actuated wet clutch and a six-speed transmission.

Claimed peak horsepower output is 44 at 9500 rpm, and peak torque output is 25.3 lbs.-ft. at 7250 rpm.

The engine is carried in a tubular-steel trellis frame, which is attached to a die-cast aluminum swingarm. WP Suspension supplies the 43mm inverted forks and the shock, and the only suspension adjustment is for rear spring preload. KTM worked with Brembo to develop the RC 390’s braking system, which includes a single 300mm (11.8 inches) disc and radial-mount four-piston caliper in the front and a single 230mm (9.1 inches) disc and single-piston caliper in the rear. A Bosch 9MB two-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which can be turned off, comes standard. The die-cast aluminum wheels (3.00 x 17.0 inches front, 4.00 x 17.0 inches rear) come wearing 110/70ZR17 front and 150/60ZR17 rear sport radial tires.

Rake is 23.5 degrees, trail is 3.5 inches (88mm), wheelbase is 52.8 inches (1340mm), seat height is 32.3 inches (820mm), top speed is limited to 99 mph (160 kph), fuel capacity is 2.6 gallons (10 liters), and claimed dry weight is 324 pounds (147 kg). The new KTMs are expected to be in dealerships in March of 2015. Manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) will not be announced until the RC 390’s North American debut, which is scheduled to take place November 14, 2014, at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California.
