ANTHONY MAZZIOTTO AND JIMMY WINTERS MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCE 2016 PLANS

Anthony Mazziotto III is aiming to build upon his outstanding professional debut season in 2015 with even greater success in the 2016 AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship.

15-year-old Mazziotto will again compete for Jimmy Winters Motorsports in the KTM RC 390 Cup and has the championship locked firmly in his sights. Additionally, upon turning 16 on May 16th, the JWM team will add Superstock 600 duty to Mazziotto’s weekend slate as he continues his progression up the ranks as a pro racer.

Last season, Anthony finished as the KTM RC 390 Cup runner-up with two wins, three seconds, a third, and a pole position to his credit. Following a difficult opening weekend in which he scored zero points, Mazziotto earned 15 more points than any other rider during the remainder of the season. He took that momentum into the KTM RC Cup World Finals and proved his mettle against the best 390 Cup riders in the world, qualifying second and racing at the front of the pack en route to a top-five race result.

“Last year was great,” Anthony said. “We didn’t come out of the box too strong with a couple issues during the opening weekend, but after that we were pushing hard and had a strong year for my first professional season. I’ve been going to the gym every day in the off season and as soon as the weather allows, I’m going to start riding my cycle.”

The 2013 AMA Youth Road Racer of the Year and 2014 AMA Horizon Award winner’s ’16 campaign with Jimmy Winters Motorsports will be supported by Arai Helmets, Markbilt Racebikes, and Yamaha Champions Riding School.

Mazziotto said, “Definitely, riding with Jimmy and the whole team is great. They provide a great atmosphere around me. They get me excited and ready to go out on the track and do the best I can. I really feel all the support from everyone there, along with all my sponsors. It’s hard to put into words how much they’ve all helped me.”

Considering the accomplishments he’s tallied up already as an up-and-coming racer, it should come as no surprise that Mazziotto carries lofty ambitions into 2016. He explained, “I’m looking to win the KTM Cup title in America and then win the KTM RC Cup World Finals after that. That’s the goal; I want to build on last year’s success, take that one last step. As for Superstock 600, I think top-ten race finishes is a good goal to shoot for initially, and maybe see if I can’t do even better than that. I’m really excited to get on the 600 and go racing.”

The 2016 KTM RC 390 Cup will kick off on April 15-17 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Mazziotto’s first weekend competing in the Superstock 600 class will be at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on June 3-5.
