Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s Herfoss and Stauffer to take to the grid at Round 3

14th April 2016

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will return to a two-man squad at Round 3 of the Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, with both Troy Herfoss and Jamie Stauffer confirmed to take to the Superbike grid.

Stauffer who was forced to sit out of Round 2 of the ASBK at Wakefield Park due to injury, will make his return to racing this weekend, aboard his Honda CBR1000-RR machine.

Now that a medical clearance has confirmed his return, Stauffer spoke about his time off the bike, as well as his preparation leading into round three of the ASBK.

“I am looking forward to getting back on the bike, it’s been tough having to be sidelined for Round 2, I’m still not 100% fit, but I am feeling a lot better about my return this weekend,” he said.

“I am going into this round with other competitors having a race meeting on top of me, and I haven’t ridden the bike in a while, so I am just going to try and do as many laps as I can on Friday and see how I am feeling on Saturday and Sunday.

“An important aspect of racing is having a good, strong team behind you, which I have with Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team. I am ready to try and win as many races as I can, and help put Honda on the podium again.”

Herfoss who had a successful outing at Wakefield Park Raceway, which saw him take the round win as well as the Superbike Championship lead, is ready to get back on the Honda at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.

“Round two went well for myself and the Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team. It is always nice to come home with a win at the end of the weekend, especially given that it was my home round and in front of family and friends,” explained Herfoss.

“It will be good to have the team back together again with Jamie returning from injury, we all work well as a unit, and support each other on race weekends.

“We have a strong, competitive bike, so I am heading into the weekend feeling fit and ready – I know that I have the pace so am feeling confident about this weekend’s racing.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team, will now head to Sydney Motorsport Park for Round 3 of the 2016 Australian Superbike Championship, with Troy Herfoss having a two-point lead in the Superbike championship standings, while Stauffer is currently sitting in 16th position.

Stauffer set to return to the ASBK grid for Round 3!

14 April, 2016

Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s Jamie Stauffer has had an eventful year to say the least. Stauffer was involved in a high speed spectacular crash at round one of the ASBK, which he walked away from, however a crash during testing for round two sidelined the Honda mounted star with a back injury.

However today, Stauffer has confirmed that he will return to the Superbike grid at Sydney Motorsport Park for Round 3 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli this weekend, and appears to be fighting fit for the remainder of the ASBK season.

Stauffer, who has been working hard in the background to return to fitness, says he couldn’t be happier to finally pull his leathers on this Saturday and Sunday at Sydney Motorsport Park.

“I am excited to get back on the bike – Sydney Motorsport Park is my home track and I am looking forward to getting back out there for Round 3,” he said.

“I have always raced motorbikes and it’s something I love, so to have to miss a round of the championship was not ideal. It was tough being sidelined, even though I wasn’t there I was still checking results.

“I am now heading into Round 3 with my competitors having one meeting up on me, but I have a great team supporting me and I am just going to try and go out there and race to the best of my ability.” Stauffer concluded.

Stauffer also shared what his expectations are for this weekend, after spending the last month off the bike.

“It’s really hard to know what to expect this weekend, I have never had an injury like this before, and with only getting medical clearance on Tuesday it has been hard to prepare my body to ensure I am fit for racing,” he said.

“In saying that, we have a great bike to work with, a great team, and we will all be working together this weekend. I’m just happy to be going racing again.”

With Stauffer returning to the grid, racing at Round 3 of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, just got more exciting.
