As of 8:30 a.m. local time, it was raining at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California, the site of the $150,000 WSMC Toyota 200 and the $30,000 Roadracingworld.com 250/50. The problem with that is tire vendors do not have any rain tires.

Dunlop’s Sport Tire Services reports that it will have 20 sets of rain tires at the track by noon local time. Meanwhile, teams with tire groovers are cutting their own slicks.

According to www.weather.com, there is a 60 percent chance for rain throughout the day.

Willow Springs is located in California’s Mojave Desert, where it rarely rains.
