Hislop Memorial To Be Unveiled October 1 In England, BSB Champion Reynolds To Attend

REYNOLDS RIDES IN TO UNVEIL HIZZY MEMORIAL Steve Hislop Commemorative Statue Unveiling Hawick Saturday 1st October 2005 Triple British Superbike Champion John Reynolds will lead a cavalcade of bikers into Hawick on Saturday 1st October before unveiling the bronze statue of his friend and former rival Steve Hislop who was tragically killed in 2003. Created by sculptor David Annand, the event combines the annual Steve Hislop Memorial Run whereby fans are welcome to join the ‘ride in’ from various points as detailed below before the ceremony which takes place at Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick at 1pm. Friends of the late, great ‘Hizzy’ including organisers Alan Duffus and Jeff Henthorne will conduct formalities before Rizla Suzuki ace ‘JR’ and BSB pit lane reporter and long term confidant of Hislop, Larry ‘Scoop’ Carter, say a few words also. Afterwards, fans are welcome to visit the Steve Hislop Commemorative room in Hawick to see many of Steve’s trophies and racing memorabilia, or to visit the memorial cairn at the crash site as well as the Jimmy Guthrie rooms at Wilton Lodge Park. To join this historic ride, enthusiasts and fans can meet at the following points before the ride to Jedburgh whereby all parties will meet for a 12.00 noon departure from Woollen Mill Car Park. From the North: 07.45am (for 8.15 departure) Tay Road Bridge Car Park (Fife side) 09.00am (for 9.30 departure) Alan Duffus M/C, St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy 10.00am (for 10.15 depart.) Forth Road Bridge (south side) 10.45am (for 11.00 depart.) Fordell Filling Station (A68 south of Dalkeith) then on to Jedburgh via A68 From the South: 11.45am (for 12 noon depart.) Woollen Mill Car Park, Jedburgh (A68) From the West: 09.00am (for 9.15 depart.) Erskine Bridge East 10.00am (for 10.15 depart.) Harthill Services East 10.15am (for 11.00 depart.)
