MEDFORD, OR – Motorcycle-Superstore.com in conjunction with AMA Pro Racing is pleased to announce that Hayden Gillim has been selected as the winner of the 2013 Motorcycle Superstore SuperSport Sportsmanship Award. For the first time, Motorcycle-Superstore.com, the title sponsor of GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing’s SuperSport division, has awarded the Motorcycle Superstore Sportsmanship Award which recognizes the rider who attended every round of the SuperSport series without factory support and who best displayed sportsmanlike qualities including fairness, respect and fellowship towards their competitors and race staff. Gillim started all 12 races in 2013 and finished second in the East championship, missing the title by only one point. “Hayden Gillim is obviously respected both on the track and in the paddock,” said Tim Clark, Director Sports Marketing for Motorcycle Superstore. “The AMA Pro Racing staff, along with the Superstore team, selected Gillim because of his enthusiasm, positive image and dedication to the sport.” After a slow start to the 2013 Motorcycle Superstore SuperSport season that saw Gillim finish outside of the top ten two weeks in a row early on, the No. 69 Team 95 Yamaha YZF-R6 rider went on a hot streak that consisted of two consecutive wins at Mid-Ohio and New Jersey. On the season, Gillim accumulated six total podiums and two victories. Upon hearing of his win, Gillim remarked, “This is an exciting award to win. There are so many people who helped me get through this season and without their support and friendship, it would have been impossible to complete the series. I would especially like to thank J.D. Beach; he really went the extra mile to help me find sponsors and put together my 2013 race program. This is truly a great honor to be the first to win this award and I would like to thank both Motorcycle Superstore and AMA Pro Racing.” Since entering North America’s premier professional motorcycle racing organization in 2011, Gillim has accumulated 43 starts in Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport competition and has five total wins to his credit. Over the duration of his young, yet already prosperous career, Gillim has flirted with championships on multiple occasions. The 18-year-old has finished second in points in all three seasons he has competed in the Motorcycle Superstore SuperSport class. Gilliam will be awarded a $2500 check at the AMA Pro Road Racing Year-End Awards Celebration following the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Sept. 29, 2013.
