Dozens of visitors who have come to wish hospitalized Vincent Haskovec well are wearing him out and should come back after he has made more progress in his recovery. That’s the word from Simona Gernay, Haskovec’s long-time girlfriend. “The hospital staff is calling Vincent ‘a model patient'” Gernay wrote to Roadracingworld.com in an e-mail. “He is medically stable and is now breathing room air without oxygen support. Last week the chest tube was removed from his lungs and yesterday he was taken off antibiotics. Despite all this progress he is still in intensive care and not yet in rehab like previously planned. “Vincent is overwelmed and thankful for all the mail and get-well wishes, thoughts and prays from all his friends, fans and the motorcycle community. For sure he is going to read them all when he is able. I read many of them to him. “Vincent is also looking forward to seeing his friends and fans once he has moved into rehab. Until then, please hold off on visiting.” Haskovec was injured in a crash during an AMA Formula Xtreme race at Infinion Raceway on May 14. Bascom Ave. San Jose CA 95128-2604 e-mail can be sent to [email protected]~
