Hacking Will Apologize, Attack Kawasaki Will Pay Fine

AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Championship points leader Jamie Hacking plans to issue a public apology to AMA Pro Racing, as stipulated in his suspension by the sanctioning body, and his team, Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki, plans to pay his $4000 fine. That’s the word from sources close to both parties. Those sources, however, asked to remain anonymous and to not be quoted for fear of muddying the waters further or worse, drawing more punitive action from AMA Pro Racing. Hacking was suspended indefinitely for “conduct detrimental to the sport of professional motorcycle racing,” according to a press release issued by AMA Pro Racing, and for “additional acts of inappropriate behavior in both public and media interviews” during the AMA Pro Road Race event March 20-22 at Auto Club Speedway. The press release stated that if Hacking publicly apologizes and pays a $4000 fine he will be considered for re-instatement after a one-race-weekend suspension.
