F-USA Stars Warm-up With CCS Race Wins Saturday At Barber

Several top riders won CCS races Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama, in preparation for round six of the eight-round Formula USA National series Sunday.

Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Michael Barnes started the afternoon race program by running away with the Unlimited Superbike race on his Pirelli-fitted GSX-R1000. Crosley’s Brandon Parrish finished second on a Suzuki GSX-R750, ahead of Kawasaki ZX-10R-mounted Nate Kern.

Teen Garrett Carter rode an Aprilia RSV250 to win the six-lap Lightweight GP, beating fellow young gun Joshua Day, who rode a Yamaha TZ250, and Kern, who rode a BMW R1100S. Later in the day, Carter won the 125cc GP race, defeating Team Stargel Aprilia’s Ryan Clay and USGPRU President Stewart Aitken-Cade, who took third.

Argo Cycles’ Scott Greenwood took and held an early lead to win the Middleweight Superbike final on his 636cc Kawasaki ZX-6R. Starting much further back on the grid, Barnes and Roadracingworld.com’s Chris Ulrich, finished second and third, respectively, on Pirelli-shod Suzuki GSX-R600s.

HG Racing’s Joey Thomas, riding a Suzuki SV650, beat out BMW-mounted Kern to win in Lightweight Superbike. Ross Ryals finished third on a Suzuki SV650.

Robert Jensen, a double-race-winner on Friday, won again in Heavyweight Supersport on his Michelin-fitted Kneedraggers.com Suzuki GSX-R750. Arclight Suzuki’s Jeff Wood took second on a GSX-R750, holding off third-place Geoff May, who rode a GSX-R600.

CAD Cycles’ David Yaakov took the Lightweight Supersport victory on a Suzuki SV650. Kern was second on his BMW, while Ryals was third, again.

Jeff Wood beat May in Middleweight Supersport by 2.689 seconds. Greenwood was a close third on his Dunlop-sponsored Kawasaki.

Brian Stokes ran away with the SuperTwins sprint on a Stargel Aprilia RSV1000, beating Ryals, who rode a Suzuki SV1000, and Tony Sawyer, who rode a Ducati 998.
