Erion Honda will field Aaron Gobert and Josh Hayes in AMA Formula Xtreme and Superstock in 2006. Asked for his plans for the 2006 season Saturday afternoon, Erion Racing Team Owner Kevin Erion told Roadracingworld.com, “Josh Hayes and Aaron Gobert and a Championship or two at the end in Formula Xtreme and Superstock. “We want to make sure we maintain the dominance Honda has had in that (Formula Xtreme) class. Both American Honda and Erion Racing are extremely committed to keeping that legacy of that bike in that class alive.” A major part of the deal is said to be increased support from American Honda. Asked to comment on this, American Honda Racing Teams Manager Chuck Miller said, “We are going to re-energize their team. We are Honda and we want to win.” Aaron Gobert informed Roadracingworld.com of the deal 15 minutes after he signed the contract in the Road Atlanta paddock Saturday afternoon. The rumor mill is reporting that the 2006 CBR1000RR has been significantly improved. Details of any changes to the CBR1000RR for 2006 should be announced in conjunction with American Honda’s dealer meeting September 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miller also said the current plan for the American Honda factory team (which will include Miguel Duhamel and, most likely, Jake Zemke) to race in the Daytona 200 Formula Xtreme race before concentrating on Superbike in 2006 may change at any time.
