Kawasaki’s Eric Bostrom rode his Dunlop-rain-tire-shod ZX-7RR to a dominant victory Sunday on a wet but drying course at Road America. Not only did Bostrom take his second Superbike race win in the last three races and 11th win of his career, he took over the AMA Superbike points lead by one point over Mat Mladin, who finished 10th today.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Aaron Yates finished second, over 32 seconds behind Bostrom, after a long battle with Dream Team Ducati’s Larry Pegram, who finished third.

American Honda’s Miguel Duhamel was the only rider who gambled on conditions at the start of the “wet” race and went with cut slick tires. The French-Canadian rider started slowly and was able to score fourth but only after passing Shawn Higbee, Jason Pridmore and Ben Bostrom on the last lap.

Mladin started on rain tires, pitted on lap eight for slicks, ran the fastest lap of the race on the final circuit (2:25.235) but only worked his way back up to 10th.

Yates crashed on the cool-off lap, extensively damaging his GSX-R1000.
