MOTORPOINT BRITISH SUPERSPORT DELIVERS PHOTO FINISH AT BRANDS HATCH The Motorpoint British Supersport Championship produced two of the most thrilling races of the season on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit last weekend with the Feature race ending with a photo finish as Alastair Seeley and Stuart Easton were separated by just 0.004 seconds at the line! Seeley arrived at the Kent circuit with the championship lead and was determined to repeat his double-winning form for the second consecutive round; however his rivals had other ideas at the packed Kent circuit. The Sprint race came down to a battle between the leading quartet of Easton, Seeley, Ben Wilson and pole-sitter Graeme Gowland. The fight for victory went down to the wire with Easton and Seeley repeating the epic Tommy Hill and John Hopkins race from 2011; it looked like Gearlink Kawasaki were going to be the victors but on the drag to the line it was the Martrain Yamaha of Easton that won. The rematch in race two was as intense as the first between the leaders as Seeley sought revenge on Easton as the pair crossed the line separated by just 0.004 seconds for a photo finish. The Sprint race winner had taken the early advantage before Wilson had a spell at the front of the field. The ‘Wee Wizard’ Seeley had to fight back from a mistake earlier in the race when he ran off track and then had to make up the lost ground, which he did just in time for a last lap duel for the win. At the front there was an intense battle between Easton and Gowland with the pair swapping places, but Seeley had closed in for the final fight. The last lap saw the trio elbow-to-elbow for an adrenaline-filled attack for the win with Easton, Gowland and then Seeley all taking their turn at the front, but as the trio crossed the line it was the Gearlink Kawasaki rider who took victory by a few millimetres. Seeley said: “They were some great races because we all love a good battle. I made a mistake earlier in the Feature race but I just dug deep to try and close down Stuart and Graeme. I took a couple of breaths before the last lap and just went for it. Stuart and Graeme were cutting each other’s noses off but I knew I had to have a go. It wasn’t a lot in it, but it is great to win like that. Easton added: “I think we had a great bike and I only had myself to blame as I left it open at Stirlings, if I hadn’t done that then maybe it could have been a different story. The Martrain Yamaha team have me a great bike so I look forward to the next race.” Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, Brands Hatch Grand Prix, Sprint race: 1.
