DATATAG ANNOUNCE CONTINUATION OF THEIR MCE BSB EXTREME QUALIFYING SPECTACLE

Datatag – a global security marking and registration leader and the MCE British Superbikes commercial rights holder – MSV, are pleased to announce a continuation of their partnership for a third consecutive year. Both companies are looking forward to a significant increase in television coverage of the spectacular Datatag Extreme Qualifying as it will be featured in an additional programme for 2014 thanks to British Eurosport’s further commitment to the Championship.

Datatag, the market leader in Motorcycle and Scooter security marking and registration systems, will continue to use the association with the UK’s premier motorsport series to help raise awareness of the unwanted problem of vehicle, property and machinery theft in the UK, Europe and Worldwide, particularly amongst Supersport machines as well as promoting Datatag’s cutting edge, innovative and highly effective security marking systems.

Research undertaken by the Motorcycle Industry showed that a bike unprotected by systems such as Datatag, were up to four times more likely to be stolen* and six times less likely to be recovered. The all new Datatag Motorcycle and Scooter security identification system now includes “stealth” UV etching and even a unique forensic DNA solution.

Through Datatag’s policy of continual development and innovation combining the “Best of Breed” identification technologies, it has been awarded the very important role of being the power behind the Official MASTER Scheme for all Motorcycles and Scooters as well as the Official CESAR Scheme for Agriculture and Construction machinery, which is already seen as the World’s largest database and most successful security initiative of its kind. Datatag was established 22 years ago and protects many other sectors as well including Bicycles, Car, Trailers and Marine as well as already being the provider of the Official registration scheme for UK powered watercraft, often referred to as ‘Jet Skis’.

This year’s partnership will see Datatag, renowned for their EXTREME ID; continue with the naming rights to the three stage knockout qualifying session to decide the starting grid for the first MCE BSB race at each round. Viewers can expect to witness the fastest laps of the weekend during the pole position shootout as all of the Datatag Extreme Qualifying sessions will be broadcast live on British Eurosport this year.

Datatag will also continue to provide a high level of security protection for all competing teams and their race bikes. Utilising the unique identification technology found within the Official MASTER Security Scheme which is supported by many leading motorcycle manufacturers including; Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, KTM, Victory and Indian Motorcycles as well as being promoted by the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA) and supported by the UK Police and the Home Office.

Utilising Datatag’s expertise, each of the competing motorcycles across all classes will be protected and registered with Datatag identification technology ensuring that each motorcycle and their main parts can be traced and identified in the event of theft. The Datatag technology will also help to ensure that the one bike per rider regulation is enforced in conjunction with the series regulations and future keepers and riders of used race machines will have the confidence of knowing they can check the provenance of a bike to make sure it’s not stolen, cloned or have a hidden history.

Datatag’s Managing Director, Kevin Howells said: “We are extremely proud to be associated with and to continue our sponsorship of the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship. Last season played a vital role helping to raise awareness of the unwanted problem of motorcycle and scooter theft and with the important development of the ONLY Industry supported Official MASTER Security Scheme. Early indications are that the Official MASTER Scheme powered by Datatag is having a positive effect on reducing theft and increasing recoveries but we need as an Industry to continue raising awareness of the theft problem and so it was an obvious choice to continue with our support of possibly the most exciting race series there is. We look forward to this year’s Championship and especially, the Datatag Extreme Qualifying.”

MCE British Superbike Championship Series Director Stuart Higgs said: “I’m delighted that we have extended our partnership with Datatag, and in particular will be giving much greater exposure to the thrilling Datatag Extreme Qualifying element of the race weekend thanks to new extended live television coverage as well as helping to protect the team’s most valuable equipment.”
