Dominguez on Top with CMRA at NOLA Motorsports Park

Formula 1 Expert winner Dustin Dominguez dominated on the track this weekend, winning all his races on his Kawasaki ZX-10R. He set out in qualifying to break the track record but with damp conditions he didn’t quite reach his goal. He pulled off the pole position spot with an amazing time of 1:45.772, the fastest time all weekend! When A Superbike Expert rolled around a storm started brewing just south of the track, but held off and Dominguez turned a 1:46.455. A huge storm rolled in during the next race and caused an early lunch break as the wind and rain made the track unraceable. Once the storm passed and the puddles were removed from the track, racing started again and after a couple of races it was time for Formula 1 Expert and with a damp track Dominguez rode his hardest and made sure to keep the bike on two wheels. Everyone’s times dropped due to the wet track and Dominguez’s fastest time was 2:05.911. But that did not bring him down. As the track dried up and he went out for his last race he came out on top with a 1:59.004 and Joseph Caruso, riding his BMW S1000R, was right on his tail with just a 0.102-second margin in his victory.

Probably one of the best races of the afternoon was D Superbike Expert/Novice. When the lights went out Shawn Adams on his Suzuki SV650, got off to a great start and led the early laps of the race with, his brother, Daniel Adams right on his tail. They continued to switch places lap by lap, turn by turn. On the second to last lap Daniel’s SV650 got around Shawn heading onto the front straight but then Shawn beat him to the line with the white flag showing. Going into turn one Daniel got back around and they continued to trade places multiple times within the last lap and it was a photo finish at the line with Shawn just 0.367 seconds ahead. These two always make for a great show and they are the guys to watch on the 650s!

An outstanding Novice racer was Chris Botha. Out of all the Novices racing this weekend he had the fastest time. He ran a 1:53.038 and got second in C Superstock Novice. He was running faster than some Experts this weekend! Looking forward to more exciting racing from this racer!

Another Novice who caught our eye this weekend was the #1 points holder for the Novices, Casey Scholten. Out of his 4 races this weekend he podiumed in 3 of them. In B Superstock Novice he ran a 2:01.603 and won 3rd place. Next in C Superstock Novice he ran a better time of 2:00.999 but came out with a 4th. For his Formula 1 Novice race the track was damp due to it being post storm he ran a 2:09.555 and finished on top of the box in 1st. A little later he had his last race of the day and ran a 2:14.805 and finished his day with another 1st place finish. Granting him with enough points to have the most out of all Novices in the club.
