These photos from the April 23 AMA Superbike National at Barber Motorsports Park show that crashed motorcycles moved Airfence fronting a steel barrier and a tire wall before Kawasaki’s Roger Hayden hit it. There has been recent speculation that the Airfence moved upward when Hayden himself hit it, allowing him to slide underneath and break his leg against the tire wall. The photos, taken by Noah Bowman, show otherwise. The track plans to move the barrier back and to install a gravel trap, which should help keep bikes and riders from reaching the barrier in the future.
