Safety First Racing is proud to announce the addition of Chris “Opie” Caylor to their 2006 rider lineup. Caylor will contest the AMA Supersport and Formula Extreme series on the all new, 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 600. “When I started looking at riders for the 2006 season, Opie was one of the first guys I thought about adding to the team. He’s a great, proven racer and just a great guy to be around as well. My goal is to run up front with the big boys during the AMA weekend and I’m fully confident Opie can help us get there,” stated Hanson. “I think the new Suzuki GSX-R 600 will be a great platform to start from and I can’t wait to get started developing the bike. For 2006, I wanted to really focus on one bike and Jim Rashid from 4 & 6 Performance will return for next year with his expertise in developing 600’s.” When reached for comment, Caylor said: “Kevin came down to the WERA Grand National Finals to hang out and catch the action and knowing what the possibilities were, I wanted to do my very best! As it turned out, I went undefeated on the 600 for the weekend after leading every practice session and qualifying on pole for the 600 Cup race. I like weekends like that! But as far as 2006, I can’t wait to get started! Kevin has a first rate program and the crew to back it up! I’ve known of Jim Rashid for a number of years and I know he is a very capable Crew Chief. I’m also pleased to announce that Craig “Huey” Stewart will be joing me on the team as my Lead Mechanic. Huey did a great job for me last season and it only seemed right to bring him along!” Stay tuned for further updates!
