CMRA’s Spring Shootout This Weekend at MotorSport Ranch

This coming weekend, April 25-26, 2015, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) will be tearing up the track at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. The track is located 14 miles south of Fort Worth off Highway 377. MotorSport Ranch is an 11-turn, 1.7 mile full road course.

This is a special two-day, one-off, non-points paying event, with a different format for both days from the usual CMRA endurance or sprints schedule.

The gates open at 6:00 p.m. Friday for overnight camping, and the weekend activities begin Saturday at 6:00 am. Registration opens for all activities at 6:30 a.m. and the CMRA License School will be available.

Saturday’s schedule will have the track running in the clockwise direction and begins with two rounds of Free Practice separated into four groups of 25-minutes each. The groups are set up for machines by weight class, including the Grom, Mini, and Junior Motard group, Middleweight Novice/Expert group, Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight Novice/Expert group and Heavyweight Novice/Expert group. Lunch follows practice and includes a spectator lap of the track. Ten minute qualifying sessions for all afternoon races begins at 1:15 p.m., followed by afternoon sprint races. There will be one race for each weight class with 10-18 laps per race, according to machine size. A winners circle presentation will be conducted following each race, with trophies and any other prizes being awarded then. The day concludes with a meet & greet party with refreshments served.

Sunday’s schedule is similar, except the track will be run in the counter-clockwise direction.
