BRANDON PAASCH TAKES 5TH IN 2018 HEL PERFORMANCE BRITISH MOTOSTAR CHAMPIONSHIP

In his inaugural season in the 2018 HEL Performance British Motostar Championship, Brandon Paasch took fifth overall in the Moto3 GP final points standings. Despite racing on tracks he had never seen before and missing the final three races due to a broken arm, Brandon posted consistent Top 10 finishes in his races to secure the fifth championship position on the Microlise Cresswell Racing Team Mahindra Moto3 racebike.

“I was so bummed when I fell at Oulton. I felt good in the Sunday warmup, but I guess I hit a wet spot and the end just stepped out and threw me down. I broke my forearm, and when it was first set, it didn’t align properly. So the doctor had to break it and reset it, and that delayed my recovery time a bit. But I got the hard cast off the week before Brands, and I was really hoping that I could get on the track for the final two races. I know I could have added some points to my championship total, and I wanted to give the team a great race to end the season, but it just wasn’t ready.” (Brandon Paasch)

As a new member to the Microlise Cresswell Racing Team, Brandon developed a strong relationship with the crew. Working closely with his mechanic and data acquisition technician to improve the Mahindra Moto3 GP racebike and his riding skills, Brandon consistently closed the gap to the front runners in the series throughout the season. At Oulton Park, Brandon took Pole Position, the first ever for an American racer in the Moto3 GP class.

“For sure, it was an amazing year! Nailing the pole at Oulton was my best result of the year, and I was pushing to get on the podium in one of the final races. But this is just my first full season racing overseas and it was very challenging to be in a new series, racing at new tracks against some great competitors. I was pretty much over there on my own, which was a bit of an adjustment, but everyone in the paddock made me feel welcome. I had a lot of fun, and working closely with Dave and Andy at the Microlise Cresswell Racing Team helped a lot. Riding for John Cresswell and Bob Harbey showed me what it was like to be with a top-level privateer team that was focused on development and dedicated to winning. The Mahindra Moto3 racebike was pretty trick – riding it taught me a lot about bike setup and how to improve my racing skills. My teammate Asher helped out at some of the tracks, too. He showed me some inside tips that the local guys knew from racing there for years.

Overall, I’m so happy with how everything turned out this year. Racing is tough, but I’m proud of what I accomplished. I’m looking forward to a few opportunities in the next couple months, and I’m working with my coach and business partners to lock in a ride for next season. Stay tuned for updates!

Most importantly, thanks to everyone that helped make this year happen. To all my fans at home and online, thanks for your support! The whole crew at Microlise Cresswell Racing was awesome – John, Bob, Dave, Andy, Richard and Alan, you guys helped me get the best results on the track. I wouldn’t be able to push so hard without knowing that I was safe with Spidi and Arai, they really kept me focused while on the Mahindra, and they protected me at Oulton. To my friends Scott at luxeStar VIP and Dave at DRH Racing, your efforts made it possible for me to race in BSB this year. My personal sponsors Electronic Concepts LLC, Evolve GT, VNM Sport, CCC Manhattan, I really appreciate your belief in me. Paulie and Andy, I couldn’t ask for better mentors than you two. Most of all – Mom, I wouldn’t be here without you. (Brandon Paasch)
