Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli road racing tire vendors have agreed to provide trackside support and sponsorship for the six-weekend, doubleheader Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association road racing series in 2011. Each of the vendors has agreed to sponsor individual race classes by putting up certificates redeemable for tires at the race events. In addition to any contingency awards earned from the manufacturers, each weekend, each of the vendors will put up $250 in certificates for a race class they are sponsoring. The certificates must be used to purchase products from the tire vendor sponsoring the class, but can be transferred among racers. For example, if “Brand X” sponsors the Formula Open class, the weekend’s winner of that category receives a certificate redeemable with the “Brand X” vendor at the track. The winner can use that certificate or transfer it to another racer. Payouts will be $125 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third. First, second and third positions will be determined by the combined results of both races in a particular class for the weekend. Class sponsorship will break down as follows: – Bridgestone/Cyclemall will be the title sponsor for the Formula Twins (650cc) class; – Dunlop (through its new Western U.S. distributor, Erion Racing) will be the title sponsor for the SuperSport Middleweight class; – Michelin/Racers Edge will be the title sponsor for the Formula Middleweight category; – Pirelli/CT Racing will be the title sponsor for the Formula Open races. “This is an important vote of confidence in the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association series from our racing partners,” says Eric Nolan, Race Director. “We’re looking forward to a successful season of racing, and having the support of the world’s top racing tire manufacturers for our racers is huge.” Bridgestone already has posted nearly $90,000 in contingency money for the six-round, 12-day race series. And Michelin is expected to offer a similar contingency package, paid out through XTRM on a Visa credit card. The Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association owned and operated by motorcycle racers and enthusiasts will host a six-round, doubleheader series in 2011 on the newest road circuit in Southern California. Easily accessible from the Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix metropolitan areas, the 2.68-mile Ed Bargy-designed course was created with motorcycle road racing in mind. CVMA offers racing on Saturday and Sunday, with a trio of Shootout races headlining Sunday’s race events. The 2011 racing season kicks off on March 12.
