Daniel Costilla Fires To Seventh In Provisional MotoAmerica KTM RC390 Cup Qualifying In Utah

On his first day aboard a KTM RC390 Cup machine, Daniel Costilla stormed to seventh place in provisional qualifying at the Utah MotoAmerica Superbike Championship event at Utah Motorsports Campus.

After finishing in the top 10 in the morning practice session, the Californian – experienced in international road racing competition – moved even higher up the lap charts, finishing his first race event day on a RC390 Cup bike only 2.2 seconds off of the fastest time of the day.

Costilla first rode a KTM RC390 only six days ago, and already is coming to grips with how to get the bike around the fast 3.048-mile circuit. Costilla slashed more than 1.5 seconds off his lap time between sessions, and is looking foward to dropping even more time on Friday.

Costilla, supported at the track by Crew Chief Ed Sorbo of Lindemann Engineering, is sponsored by Roadracing World, FastrackRiders, Arai Americas, Cycle Gear and KTM. In addition, Costilla wants to thank Anton Griessner for the use of his KTM for testing, Tony Nolley for the use of his KTM wheels for rain tires, and M1GP for track time for testing.
