Editorial Note: RoadRace Factory’s Ben Young will not be racing for the remainder of the MotoAmerica event at Miller Motosports Park, according to Team Owner Danny Walker. Young suffered a third-gear highside crash on his Yamaha YZF-R6 during provisional Supersport qualifying on Friday. Young was knocked unconscious, but a CT scan at a local hospital came back clean and Young suffered no other injuries except for significant bumps and bruises, according to Walker. Young, however, did not pass the concussion protocol of MotoAmerica Medical Director Dr. Raymond Rossi and he has been declared unfit to race this weekend. Young will be re-evaluated on the Thursday prior to the next MotoAmerica round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
