Noyes Seventh for Folch Yamaha in Calalunya Folch Yamaha’s Kenny Noyes took a promising seventh place at the third round of the Spanish National Formula Extreme Championship today at the Circuit of Catalunya. Noyes started eighth off the second row but was balked by a faller going into the first corner and had to come back from 12th to hook up with the Suzukis of Ribalta and Morales for a race long battle for fifth. “I was having some traction problems from about the fourth lap because I guessed wrong on set-up after the morning warm-up. I was spinning up way to much out of the fast Renault and SEAT right-handers and after I had a couple of warnings I had to accept seventh. It was a step in the right direction and I was only 14 seconds back of the winner after a half hour, so we are progressing fast,” said Noyes The race was won by former 500 and MotoGP rider Jose de Gea by .067 of a second over his Wurth Honda BQR teammate David Tomas, but de Gea was relegated to third by a five second penalty for passing under yellow on lap two. That meant that Grand Prix 250 veteran Tomas took his first win since the spring of 2002. It was the second time in three races that de Gea has crossed the finish line first only to en stripped of the win due to passing under yellow. Ivan Silva was in the thick of the Tomas-de Gea battle until his Yamaha R1 refused to select fifth and sixth gears at the start of the penultimate lap. He managed to hang on to finish fourth and left Catalunya leading the Championship by four points over de Gea.
