DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – American Flat Track’s 2017 season opener, the Harley-Davidson DAYTONA TT presented by Politis & Matovina, garnered record attendance, strong media coverage and reached new heights for live streaming viewership and social media engagement.

AFT Events, American Flat Track’s internal promotions company, estimated that approximately 9,500 fans attended the event. The magnitude of the record crowd for the inaugural race hearkens back to some of Pro Flat Track’s most iconic events, such as the Indy Mile, Springfield Mile and Houston Astrodome TT.

The purpose-built TT course created a new atmosphere for the sport. The success of the event held on Thursday, March 16 ensures that Pro Flat Track will continue to be a cornerstone of Daytona Beach’s Bike Week festivities.

“They say, ‘Build it and they will come’” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “I think that if you are going to build it anywhere, Daytona is the place. We are delighted that Flat Track fans and visitors to Bike Week turned out in such great numbers. We look to carrying this momentum forward throughout the 2017 season.”

On the live streaming front, the Harley-Davidson DAYTONA TT was FansChoice.tv’s largest audience for a flat track event since the inception of the live streaming platform in 2014. More than 32,000 unique viewers tuned in over the course of the night, a 138-percent gain over the 2016 average. With a total of nearly 2,000,000 minutes viewed during the event, the average live streaming viewer on FansChoice.tv watched an average of more than 60 minutes.

Additionally, American Flat Track’s Facebook Live debut reached 1,600,000 and piqued the interest of more than 100,000 viewers in key demographics for the industry.

Traditional media coverage included several appearances by top American Flat Track athletes to television and radio outlets in the Orlando and Daytona Beach markets. Total media coverage of the event exceeded 50 stories from a wide range of motorcycle industry press and non-endemic outlets.

NBCSN will feature the Harley-Davidson DAYTONA TT presented by Politis & Matovina in the premiere of its American Flat Track programming on Monday, July 3, at 11:00 p.m. ET (8:00 p.m. PT), beginning a stretch of weekly primetime broadcasts covering all 2017 American Flat Track events.
