Damian takes top ten finish in CIV at Misano

Round 7-8 of the CIV PreMoto3 series took place at Misano World Circuit on July 29-30.

Young American Damian Jigalov, racing with the RMU MOTO VR46 Riders Academy team, began his weekend at the iconic circuit getting up to speed in a positive free practice on Thursday.

A highside crash in Friday’s morning practice before qualifying left Damian sore and bruised but otherwise unhurt, and he was able to qualify in 13th for the weekend’s race.

On Saturday in Race 1, Damian finished in 11th after an issue with the quick shifter held him back; the fast-flowing and long straights at Misano making it difficult to catch some of the field.

In Race 2 on Sunday, Damian and the RMU MOTO VR46RA team found they were able to get a little more from the bike through setup changes and he was confident to improve with a top 10 result, finishing in 9th position in the competitive PreMoto3 class.

Damian now sits 10th in the Rider Championship Standings. With strong results in the opening rounds this season, the talented 13 year old continues to learn new tracks and grow in confidence.

Damian Jigalov:

“I want to say thank you to my entire RMU MOTO VR46RA team for giving a great bike to race. I hope to find a little more in myself to reach the front group at the next round at Mugello on September 23-24 for Round 9-10. I want to say thank you to my sponsors. Without them I would not be racing in Europe and I really appreciate their support.”
