Close racing ruled the day at round nine of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s championship series at Oak Hill Raceway in Henderson, Texas, this weekend, with plenty of races being decided by mere tenths of a second. Ricky Parker, Danny Kelsey and Clint Shobert provided some of the tightest action, with Parker finishing up with a weekend-best four wins, including a 0.159 margin of victory over Kelsey in the B Superstock race, a 0.269 margin of victory over Shobert in the AVTEQ A Superbike race, and a 0.398 margin of victory over William Guthrie in the CMRA Formula 1 race. Parker also topped Kelsey by 1.294 seconds to win the B Superbike race.

Kelsey had some equally close wins, taking the South Central Race Center C Superstock race by 0.209 over Parker. He also edged Shobert by 0.761 seconds to win the Island Racing Services C Superbike race, and then took a 1.867 margin of victory over Shobert in the RaceworX A Superstock race to complete a three-win performance.

“We had some pretty good battles, me and Ricky and Clint,” said Kelsey. “I started out the day with some good times in practice and I ended up beating my best time for that track. In the races, I had some good starts and jumped out to some early leads, but I could hear Ricky and Clint right on me in the corners. It was tight racing all day.”

Jon Francis and Conner Blevins equaled Kelsey’s mark of three wins, with Francis claiming wins in the Unlimited Motard, Clubman, and Lightweight Twins races, while Blevins took wins in the EXEL Transport Formula 2, GMAN 125 GP and D Superbike races.

Other Expert-class wins went to John Orchard (F40 Heavyweight Twins), Brandon Warren (D Superstock, Super Motard), Eric Falt (F40 Lightweight Twins), and Gilbert Epperson (Classic Unlimited).

In the Novice divisions, Alonzo Contreras, Blake Cochran and Steven Pundt ended up with three wins each. Of the sponsored races, Contreras won the Moto Liberty C Superstock race and Cochran claimed the win in the Ridesmart C Superbike race.

The CMRA Formula Mini Endurance race was won by Team Shake and Bake, which was a last minute effort consisting of Dustin Dominguez, Conner Blevins and Cameron Kirk. Dominguez, Blevins and Cameron rode a rented Kawasaki EX250 Ninja to victory over Honda RSF150R-mounted Team Sidewinder (Derrick Patman, Stephen Guynes, Derek Thomas, Lindsey Leard, and Greg Wanless). Meanwhile, Eurtoast (Alan Phillips, Zeb Harris, Chase Barnes, Brandon Warren) rode a Ninja to third overall, three laps behind the winners.

The runner-up finish was good enough to give Team Sidewinder the overall Mini Endurance series championship for the year.

The CMRA returns to action on October 17-18 for the tenth and final round of its series at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas.
