COMPETITION BULLETIN TO: All Road Race Licensed Riders and Season Credential Holders FROM: Kevin Crowther, Director of Technical Development SUBJECT: Rules clarification. Rule E.17.g.1 – pg 33 Existing Rule E.17.g.1 Enlargement of the lower fairing and the fabrication of a lip in the rear lower section may be necessary to achieve proper fluid retention. Such modifications will be permitted in Supersport and Superstock. Clarification: The lower fairing is defined as any part of the fairing below a horizontal line drawn from front to rear axles +/- .5″, measured in a static position with the wheels on the ground. Any openings in the original fairing located below this line or starting below this line but not continuing higher than the swingarm pivot (in the stock OEM position if adjustable) may be filled in. The front opening of the lower fairing may be filled in up to the bottom of the radiator. With the exception of enlarging the lower fairing for clearance and fluid retention, all fair-ing contours must be as the original. Should you have any questions concerning this information, please contact Kevin Crowther at (707)291-4514, or [email protected]. COMPETITION BULLETIN TO: All Road Race Licensed Riders and Season Credential Holders FROM: Kevin Crowther, Director of Technical Development SUBJECT: Rule update. Rule E.4, pg 28 OEM engine side cover replacement. Update to the rule. Rule E.4, pg28 i. Original equipment engine side covers on certain models must be replaced with covers or a case guard designed specifically to improve resistance to breaking and “grind-through” in the event of a crash. Replacement covers must be made of cast or machined aluminum. Guards must be made of cast, stamped or machined aluminum. If a case guard is used it must mount over the original case cover using a minimum of 2 of the original case bolt locations. The Chief Technical Inspector or Series Man-ager will make the final determination if a cover/guard meets the requirements. i.1. If covers/guards for a particular brand/model are unavailable, riders presenting such models at tech inspection will be placed on the technical trouble log. Such riders will then have until the next meet to comply with the regulation. Should availability problems persist beyond the next meet, consideration may be given for a compliance extension. 2005 Approved Models Left side needed Right side needed Honda CBR 600RR Stator Kawasaki ZX6 RR Stator Crank end Suzuki GSXR 600 & 600X Stator Idler gear Suzuki GSXR 750 Stator Idler gear Yamaha R6 Stator Crank end Honda CBR 1000RR Stator Kawasaki ZX 10R Crank end Crank end Suzuki GSXR 1000 Stator Idler gear Yamaha R1 Crank end 2006 Approved Models Left side needed Right side needed Honda CBR 600RR Stator Kawasaki ZX6 RR Stator Crank end Suzuki GSXR 600 Stator Idler gear Suzuki GSXR 750 Stator Idler gear Yamaha R6 Stator Crank end Honda CBR 1000RR Stator Kawasaki ZX 10R Crank end Crank end Suzuki GSXR 1000 Stator Idler gear Yamaha R1/R1-LE Crank end This list may be updated as needed during the race season.
