I got into motorcycles 5 years ago with the purchase of my first bike a Suzuki DRZ400 SM. I progressed through to a Suzuki SV650 in which I did my first track day. I have been hooked ever since. I began honing my skills on the SV650 and decided I wanted to race a Ducati 749. After purchasing the Ducati, I focused more on riding well, than riding with my friends. I was then asked to Coach for Track Tactics where I was able to share some of my knowledge and also learn some new techniques for riding well. I attended a Frank Kinsey Racing School for my race license. Upon completion of my final session, Frank informed me, "You are going to hurt a lot of feelings in the Amateur ranks."
In my first race weekend at VIR, I came away with a two wins in CCS Amateur Thunderbike and ASRA Amateur Thunderbike. I also scored 5th and an 8th in Amateur GTU and Rookies Cup GTU.
With these excellent finishes I went to Daytona with high hopes and returned with a 2nd place in CCS Amateur Thunderbike. This finish now makes me eligible to race in Expert for the 2013 Season after only 2 events as an amateur. I also scored a top-5 in CCS Amateur Supertwins and a 4th in the ASRA Amateur Thunderbike. I did pretty well considering it was the first time I had been on the road course.
My goals for the 2013 season included running the ASRA Expert Thunderbike Series which is a regional touring series as well as the South East CCS Expert Thunderbike series. I am hoping to be a contender for the championship in my first full season. I am also planning on running in the Expert GTU class as well as Expert Supertwins.
