I am a 26 (soon to be 27) year old road racer just starting out. I began riding dirt bikes when I was 9 years old out in the gravel pits of New Jersey until I was around 14. I then joined the Army Reserves right out of high school and started going to college. Two years into college, I decided it was time to get back on two wheels again, so I went to my local shop in Daytona and picked up a 2007 ZX6R. Late in 2007, I experienced a motorcycle-related incident in which I lost my right thumb but was determined to keep riding. In 2011 I ran into a group who did track days and they got me hooked immediately. After a couple track days and totaling my 2010 ZX6R, I was done for the 2011 season but came back in 2012 with a new, track-only bike and had my mind set on racing. In late 2012, I attended the ART Race School with Team Pro-Motion and acquired my CCS race license for the 2013 season. For 2013, I set a goal to run a 1:27 lap time at NJMP Thunderbolt and perform well enough to attain my expert license for 2014. Thankfully I achieved both those goals and finished my amateur 2013 season with 21 podiums out of 27 races in CCS/AMA and 9 wins out of 11 races in Team Pro-Motion's GP Moto series. I currently work full time to support my racing addiction and also am working on finishing my bachelor's degree in December of 2013.
With only one full track season at the start of this year, I finished up the year far better than I had hoped. In the Mid-Atlantic region I competed in 4 out of 9 rounds and finished 10th overall, for Southeast I did 2 rounds out of 6 and finished 18th overall, and in Atlantic I competed in 3 rounds out of 7 rounds and finished 11th overall. I also competed in the AMA Road Racing Grand National Championship SuperBike 600 Amateur race and won that at VIR North in September.
My main career goal is to hone my skills well enough to compete at the AMA Pro level eventually and represent my sponsors in the best way that I can on and off the track. I plan to compete in all Mid-Atlantic and Atlantic rounds in CCS/ASRA as well as any AMA Road Racing Grand National Championship races during the 2014 season.
