On Saturday I did two practice sessions and one Twenty Lap race.
On the Twenty lap race I had a good start and I was third. I ran in third for about five laps then I got passed by a SV 650. So then I was fourth I ran my own race for another 5-10 laps and then a guy crashed out and I was back in third. There was no one near me for the entire race and on the last lap I wanted to have a super-fast lap and I crashed out in turn two. The rear end just slipped out from beneath me and I crashed out on lap 19. I would have finished fourth if they counted total distance because I lapped so many riders.
On Sunday day I ran one practice session and three races.
I tried a different gear on my practice session and the new gear was like trying to build a snowman in Miami. So we went back to the old gear for the races. The first race was formula two or SV 650’s. On my first race I had an O.K. start and I was fifth going into the first turn. I was following a rider and I was able to pass him and another rider. A few laps later I was going into the first turn and my footpeg fell of so I completed that lap and pitted. That was the end of that race.
On the second race was the Formula Three. I was starting on the second row and I had good start. I was third going into the first turn. I stalked him for eight laps and my bike had no top end. On the last lap I went in super deep and was able to pass him for second coming out of turn one. I kept the position from him for 4 turns and he passed me back. So then I fought to get it back but like I said my bike had no top end and I couldn’t pass him back.
For my final race I started on the sixth row. On my start I popped a wheelie and had the best start of the day. I was in third again going into turn one. One guy passed me and then one lap later a guy ran off the track and I was in third again. Then he came back on the track and passed me. So I was in forth and then another SV 650 passed me. I ran my own race for about four laps then a guy passed me and I mentally said NO I am going to get fifth. I followed him for a lap or two then on the final lap I passed him on the inside in turn five. I was able to hold him off and I got third because I didn’t know that two of the guys who passed me were in other classes.
Overall I ran well but my bike has had an ignition problem that we have been fighting since the GNF at Barber Motorsports Park. I can’t wait to ride the bike at full power!
I definitely need to thank my sponsors: Cycle Gear, Apex Mfg., Sportbike Track time, Bloomington Powersports, Westfield Powersports, and Industrial Electric.
