Nolan Lamkin at Grattan Raceway 5/3-4/14 - This weekend was tough there was a 15 mph headwind and the temperature never got above 50 degrees.

On the first day it was raining for the practices and I didn’t go out until my race. I ran the 20 lap solo lightweight and I didn’t run as well as I could and my lap times were about 1:40. I had an ok start and I was with myself for the whole race.

On the second day I rode both of the practice sessions and I raced Formula 2 and Formula 3. On the first race I had a good start and I was 9th going into the first turn because it was all modified SV 650’s. I was ahead of 1 SV’s 1 TZ 250 and one RS 125 I was ahead of all of them for a lap and then the TZ 250 and a SV 650 passed me on the straight away. I worked hard to pass the SV 650 and I was able to on lap 5. Then I saw the 250 in my sights so I was working my but off trying to catch him and I was able to pass him on the last turn of the last lap but he then blew by me on the straight and I wasn’t able to pass him again.

For the final race Formula 3 I was starting on the first row and I had a good start and led everyone into turn one and for the first lap. Then on the front straight a Ninja 500 in the Clubman class passed me and I was with him for a lap. The 500 and I left the RS125, after the lap of following I went into turn 3 “The bus stop” a little too fast and I was target fixating on his rear tire and I looked away and I lent the bike in and I tucked the front. I then got on the bike and got re-teched and went back out on the track and managed to come in second place for my class. I was able to shed 8 seconds off my lap time from Saturday and if I ran the D Superbike race I would have lost more time. We kept on lowering tire pressure because my tires were only 90 degrees all day.

I really need to thank my sponsors: Apex Mfg. Sportbike Tracktime, Cycle Gear, Vortex, Bloomington Powersports, and Westfield Powersports.
