NOLA SSB 6-16-13  - Video of Harold Lambert CMRA and WERA racer #204 at the NOLA Motorsports park round 5 of the CMRA championship series. First time racing in Superstock B so had to start from the last row. My appologies for the video. The gopro cuts off after a couple laps but no matter not much happened except one last pass just before the finish line on the last lap.

Say something Friday practice We had some misfortune and 2 of my team mates were on able to make the journey with us to New Orlean's. Due to CMRA rules we aleady had a maximum number of riders on our team. We had to create a new team in order to sub in a rider. HUGE thanks to Greg Gilstrap for stepping in and putting down some of the fastest laps of the weekend, on a bike he had never ridden...We woke up to 96% humidity and a dew point of 94 degree's. Sticky is an understatement. With a "real feel" of 106 for the day hydration was key. We suited up and rode a session at a time on what was a brand new track for 8 of the 9 riders between our 2 teams. By the days end both teams were turning pretty solid lap times and after some compression tweaking on my bike, we felt comfortable on the newly installed Penske rear shock. We called it a day and took our video's home for line study and critiquing. Race Day The race didn't start until Noon... We knew it was going to be another hot day but thankfully it felt less humid than the day before. We adjusted our strategy for this race and i believe it helped us finish the race and keep all of the riders fresh. I started the Race and after a weak start ended up close to back of the grid... This is a 6 hour race, It's not won in the first turn or lap. After an hour into the race we had jumped 10 places and our pit stops seemed to flow smoother than they every have. Mike and Chris's nephew were extremely key in our success in the pits. The new Dry brake gas system we had welded in By Corey at ShiftyWorks took our gas stops from 90 seconds down to 10 seconds and makes gassing up a fun process for the first time ever. The Dunlop Tires were sticky and wore perfect the entire race giving us little issues. Both Teams tire changes went without issue, with the 1K team changing in the 3rd hour followed by the 600 team in the 4th. Time was flying and riders were cycling through like clock work. By hour 5 both teams started to get pretty excited realizing how close we were to finishing our first endurance race ever. Through random chance i ended up being the rider for my team to finish the race as well. Gotta say i've never felt anything like the joy and rush i felt of having a crowd of a few hundred lined up at the edge of a wall cheering as you fly by at 150mph only a few feet away. Team 600 finished up the race in 18th place overall with a 10th in class narrowly beating out the 1K team by 2 laps. Team 1000 finished 20th overall BUT took away a 2nd class and for the first time stood on the podium and actually got to take home some money! I love this sport and i cant wait for the next one!!! Huge thanks to all of my team mates! Our next Race is another 6 hour race August 24th here locally at Cresson If anyone wants to stop by :)about this event...
