I really started to run good laps in the first race on Sunday, I passed 3-4 riders on the start. At the back straightaway I was passed by the bigger cc bikes. I was able to keep up with one rider where I passed him on the back straight away on the inside. I got my rear tire 1 foot off the ground going into turn 5 because I was hard on the brakes after I went over the rise. He passed me back in turn 8 on the inside and I passed him on the outside of the long sweeper. We were battling until I went in deeper in turn one. Then there was a RS 125 ahead of me. I followed him for a lap and did the same thing to him passed him on the inside of turn 1. Then there was an SV 650 right ahead of me it was the second to last lap so I had to make my move FAST. I passed him in turn 2 and was mixing it up with him until the checkered flag.
My first weekend at Grattan on my Moriwaki was a very successful weekend. This was my 2nd weekend ever on the Moriwaki, and I am getting more and more comfortable on the bike. The best part of the weekend was beating some experts. I started out Saturday with a lap time of mid 1:35’s and by race day on Sunday my lap times dropped to a 1:29.5. Since there is no one on a Moriwaki 250 like in the mid-west it is hard for me to compare myself to other riders. The following are some lap times from Grattan in past years with teenagers on Moriwaki’s:
Nolan Lamkin (2013) 1:29.5 sec.
Nick Mc Fadden (2009) 1:31.5 sec.
Ian Tetrick (2010) 1:31.7 sec.
I’d like to thank my sponsors for letting me race: Four Feathers Racing, Lucas Oil, Toyota Trucks, Nolan Helmets, Apex Manufacturing, and Industrial Electric.
